Heavy Rigid Driver Licence Information

A heavy rigid (HR) licence permits a driver to take charge of a rigid vehicle with 3 or more axles and to tow a trailer with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) up to 9 tonnes.

Our HR Training is provided on a one-to-one basis. 1 or 2 hour lessons are advised for novice drivers.

1 day or 2 day training sessions are available, upon request.

The duration of training depends on the student’s previous experience.

Our office staff can help a future student to decide their best training plan.

Phone now on 08 94599680 to discuss your training needs.

Students with previous heavy vehicle experience are recommended to call the office as their existing skill-set may reduce their training time as we can tailor a course to suit the driver’s current skill level.

The Department of Transport (DoT) mandate that training must be provided to a student and their graduation document set must include a Statement of Attainment that is Nationally Recognised.

Upon graduation this Statement and other documents are brought by the graduate to the DoT Licensing Services office, to have their licence upgraded.

The Statement of Attainment for this Unit of Competency is labelled: TLIC 3004 Drive heavy rigid vehicle

It is worthwhile noting that the DoT Licensing Services driver’s licence is issued by the Western Australian government. Whereas, the Statement of Attainment is issued by the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Wrightway Road Training (WRT) and that it is nationally recognised.

Please note a student MUST have a valid Unique Student Identifer (USI) number before beginning a training course at Wrightway.

To create a USI number please log onto www.usi.gov.au This is a free service. Alternatively, at the time of enrollment this can be done at the WRT office.
